APPLICATIONS OPEN: World Agri-Tech Launches Innovation Challenge with CHS & GROWMARK

The World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit has announced its partnership with GROWMARK and CHS’s venture arm, Cooperative Ventures, to run an exclusive Innovation Challenge for start-ups at the San Francisco summit this March 14-15.

THE INNOVATION CHALLENGE: Leveraging Field-Level Data to Deliver Actionable Insights and Profitability for Farmers

New and emerging technologies collect massive volumes of field-level data and yet the insights and analysis which are vital to making sense of that data remains limited. Cooperative Ventures wants to work with technology innovators who are bridging the gap from collecting data to generating insights and recommendations.

Commenting on the challenge, Heather Thompson, Director of Innovation at GROWMARK said:

“We’re excited to see the creative ways start-ups are transforming field-level data into actionable insights. Our farmer-owners have to weigh more options and manage greater risk than ever before, and we look forward to collaborating to bring forward innovative solutions to support them”.

Ben Van Straten, Director of Innovation & Sustainability at CHS, added: “Our farmer-owners and customers have limitless opportunities to obtain and provide data by adopting new solutions at the farmgate. We look forward to exploring new ways to obtain and convert data into information growers can use to make the best decisions for their farm and operations.”

Agtech start-ups are invited to enter before Friday January 20, 2023 at:

Cooperative Ventures is looking for solutions that address, but are not limited to, the following use cases:

  • Enhanced execution and timing of field operations
  • Efficiency of equipment deployment
  • Optimizing input procurement, delivery, and inventory management
  • Integration of data from disparate technologies (i.e. sensors, drones, IoT, etc.)
  • Validating efficacy of products & practices

The prize? The winner will unlock valuable growth opportunities including introductions to and mentoring by leaders from both CHS and GROWMARK, and consideration for trial, collaboration or investment.

All finalists will enjoy brand visibility to World Agri-Tech’s global network, culminating in a live onstage pitch in San Francisco in front of the summit’s high-profile audience of investors, corporates and agri-food businesses, with two days of networking and insights.

WEBINAR: The team behind Cooperative Ventures will share background details to its Innovation Challenge in a free and interactive webinar on Wednesday December 14 at 10am CT, 4pm UTC. GROWMARK’s Director of Innovation Heather Thompson and CHS’ Director of Innovation & Sustainability Ben Van Straten will share details of Cooperative Ventures activities and why this challenge is a key priority for them in 2023, what they are looking for, and how they plan to work with the winning start-up – all valuable intel for start-ups to tailor their entry and ensure they get noticed.

Everyone is welcome to join at www.crowdcast.io/c/cv-challenge-webinar.

Following the closing date for entries on January 30, three finalists will be selected to pitch their solutions live to the Cooperative Ventures judges and a global audience of agribusinesses, corporates and investors at the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit, with the winning start-up awarded live on stage.
